Every day, small newspapers have served as the voice of Barranquilla. They are not only the purveyor of news events but also the mouthpiece of the community on many issues.
Today, the small newspapers maintain only a facade of the integrity they represent.
Small newspapers, for the most part, are so obsessed with profit that they are an embarrassment to a discerning public. Granted, a few small newspapers may still be concerned with quality news reporting. They are accurate, honest and unbiased; but the majority of news reports in small newspapers in the town concentrate on those stories which will please most of the readers and all of the advertisers. Because the paper is so influenced by the advertisers, omissions occur in order to protect the profit.
For example, a reporter who covers a local event may decide to omit any criticisms of the production because many of those involved are advertisers or potential advertisers. Thus, the reader is treated to a mediocre review of the production instead of intelligent comments suggesting improvements. The newspaper had decided not to offend its paying customers in exchange for news copy which discerning readers know is misleading..

And what is worse, they don't only protect products, they also protect some people ,mostly politicians, from telling their truths. This is not new in papers or any other kind of media, and is up to us how to filter what we want to get into our heads from them.
All the communication manipulate us because is a souerce but sometimes poeple control tose sources and invent thing about other people and omit their stories. And with the small newspapers in Barranquilla I don`t belive in that source because I think they try to do a yellow newspaper and not a news a real news.
